Alt Text Batch Processing from Basic
Filter missing and weak alt texts, select hundreds of images, review AI suggestions and approve them in bulk – with full control over every text.
Batch processing is the editorial workspace for large image libraries: it shows where action is needed, plans your quota along the way and saves only what you have approved.
How it works
The batch tab under AI Alt Text guides you through your library in four steps. Each step shows what will happen before anything is saved.
Show only what needs work: open alt text, too short or too long, manual or AI source, file type, date range. Active filters appear as chips above the list.
Pick the loaded media or extend the selection to the whole filter set. The action bar shows remaining quota, selection and expected usage side by side.
Each AI suggestion appears separately from the current alt text with the status “Not saved”. You edit, discard or approve – image by image or in bulk.
Only “Approve & save” writes the text to the media library. A result dialog lists successful, skipped and failed items, and you can retry the failed ones selectively.
Review stays with you
Even in a batch, every alt text remains an editorial decision. Suggestions sit visibly next to the original, hints point out weaknesses, and nothing is saved without your click.
The current alt text stays visible and unchanged until you explicitly approve the suggestion. Unsaved changes survive filtering and reloading within the tab.
Very short, filename-like, generically phrased, duplicate or unusually long texts are flagged – as a help for editors, not as a WCAG finding.
There is deliberately no direct “Generate & save” action. Approving only considers existing suggestions, manual saving only existing drafts.
Quota at a glance
Before every run you see what it will cost: available AI quota, selected images and expected usage sit side by side in the action bar – as a bar on desktop, as an action sheet on your phone.
Approving suggestions, saving manual changes or marking images as decorative uses no quota.
If the known remaining quota is smaller than your selection, generation stays locked until you shrink the selection.
Processing runs sequentially in the browser with progress messages for position and media item. If a limit is hit, the run ends in a controlled way.
More than a list
The batch tab is built for everyday use: image purpose, history, comparison view and mobile operation are all part of it.
Batch or single image?
Batch processing and single generation use the same AI, the same settings and the same quota. They differ in how you use them: working through a backlog or describing a single image.

Plans & quotas
The batch tab is included in all paid plans. How many suggestions you can generate per month depends on your plan – approving and saving are always free.

Good to know
Plans, saving, quota, decorative images and history – the most common questions at a glance.
From Basic. In the Free plan the batch tab is not available; opening it redirects to the settings. Single generation in the media library, on the other hand, is available in all plans.
No. Generated suggestions first appear as “Not saved” next to the current alt text. Only “Approve & save” writes them to the media library, so no AI text can bypass editorial review.
As many as your remaining quota allows. The action bar shows available quota, selection and expected usage together. If the quota is smaller than the selection, generation stays locked. The run processes the images one after another in the browser, so keep the tab open.
Images marked as decorative keep an empty alt text and are excluded from generation and bulk selection. With the “Reviewed as decorative” filter you can bring them back into the list at any time, along with their status and an undo action.
Yes. The last ten saved alt text versions are stored as private metadata on the image. In the detail dialog you can restore any version; the replaced value itself becomes the newest history entry, so a restore stays reversible.
The same rules as for single generation: by default only images that appear in published content; optionally all images in the media library. JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF up to 10 MiB are supported, no SVG files. Unsuitable media are counted, flagged and skipped.
Get started
Filter open alt texts, generate suggestions and approve them after review – from the Basic plan, right in WordPress.
Large WordPress media libraries collect images for years without alternative text or with placeholders such as file names. The Alt Text Batch Processing of EZZE WCAG Pro makes this backlog manageable: you filter by open alt text, descriptions that are too short or too long, source, file type and date range, select many images at once and have AI suggestions generated in bulk.
Unlike a fully automatic solution, batch processing saves nothing unchecked. Every suggestion sits next to the current alt text, quality hints flag weak texts, and only “Approve & save” writes to the media library. You mark decorative images as reviewed, and a history of ten versions per image keeps every change reversible.
Before every run the action bar shows available quota, selection and expected usage. Only generating new suggestions counts; approving and manual saving are free. The run works through the images one after another in the browser, reports position and media item and ends with a result dialog from which you can restart failed items selectively.
Batch processing is included from the Basic plan and complements the single generation of AI Alt Text in the media library, on upload and in the image block. Together they form a workflow with which editorial teams and agencies meet WCAG 1.1.1 for the long term – structured, traceable and right in WordPress.
